The longevity of the existence of the Buddha’s doctrine – the source of all goodness and happiness of every being including the gods – depends on the community of the Sangha. As we are all aware, after the Buddha first turned the Wheel of Dharma with his sermon to the Five Noble Disciples, the precious doctrine flourished in every direction and firmly took root with the establishment of communities of Sangha in many places.

There are followers of great schools of Tibetan Buddhism in the Kalimpong region of India. I felt that a monastery for worship and teachings for the devotees of the Dharma including the Sakya tradition would be beneficial for the doctrine as a whole and for our tradition.

Primarily through the compassionate benevolence of my root guru, the possessor of the threefold kindness, His Holiness the 41^st Sakya Trizin, we purchased the land for the monastery in 2006. Since then until now, for around 10 years, the building of the monastery and provision of the objects of worship within it have been funded through offerings received by His Holiness the Sakya Trizin, Khöndung Gyana Vajra Rinpoche and myself, and the direct and indirect support from generous donors.

I would like to thank the many thousands of devotees who have contributed, and the staff of the monastery who have worked hard throughout this project. It is with the contributions of all involved that the monastery is now successfully completed.

Finally, through the compassion and blessings of the gurus and the Triple Gem, may all those associated with this monastery and, indeed, every sentient beings soon attain Buddhahood.
